What Happened …

“Mother and Daddy”

December 3, l975 changed my life forever.

As a 27 year old I went home Thanksgiving to visit my parents and brothers in Blacksburg, Virginia. While there two crazied predators broke into our family home and shot my parents and me.

Lying on the floor I heard one intruder say, “This is worse yet” as they stomped around our rancher house.

My parents died and I lived.

For an hour one of the murderers held me hostage, then released me and the police took me to the hospital. Here I stayed three weeks and went home to face the biggest challenge of my life–to heal and recover from the double murder of both parents and severe physical injuries.

The bullets hit one finger, one arm, one shoulder and my gut. The darkness held me down for years with a hand that wouldn’t let go.  When I began this task, I had no idea what I was in store for. I learned as I walked this trail. How do you recover from such devastation? What tools did I use?
